Our Emergency Two-Way Radio Kit #1 comes with (2) TERA TR-505-GMAX GMRS/MURS/NOAA WX dual-band radios, (2) stealthy 3″ flexible stubby antennas, and (2) heavy duty speaker microphones.

See the Radio Programming Chart below to see the pre-programmed TR-505-GMAX frequencies/channels and other radio programming options!

NoteGMRS (General Mobile Radio Service) operation does require a license (currently $65 – typically takes only a couple days to obtain online from the FCC). MURS (Multi-Use Radio Service) is license-free for 2-Watt operations. MURS uses the VHF band, which generally offers better outdoor/rural communications than GMRS, which is better for indoor/urban environments. Having both bands (and a NOAA Weather Service channel) in your emergency radio is essential!

IMPORTANT: The custom programming for this radio is meant for emergency communications during “SHTF” (Sh** Hits The Fan) situations. You are solely responsible for operating this device in compliance with FCC licensing and regulations, regardless of how it comes programmed. We are not responsible for any harm or loss caused by the use or misuse of this device. Let us know if you have any questions before purchasing.

Great, Easy To Use Radios!: Just completed a quick field test on the TR-505-D‘s that I purchased. I’m very pleased with their performance. In GMRS mode, I was able to get crisp, clear reception with the stubby antenna with one radio in the basement of a house and the other about a quarter mile away.

With the regular antennas and both radios outdoors, I got close to two miles range in a suburban area with many houses and trees between units. I did not get the same range in MURS mode, but the terrain wasn’t conducive to MURS.

The pre-programmed NOAA weather channel is not the operational one for my area, however, I will be relocating soon and it looks like it will work in my new location.

I was looking for a radio that novices could use and these fit the bill perfectly. The operating simplicity of these radios can’t be beat. They are compact enough to put in a cargo pocket or easily clip onto a belt or tac vest. The radios, remote mics and antennas seem sturdy and well-constructed. The ordering process was easy and shipping was lightning fast!

Will probably purchase a pair of hi-gain antennas to see how far I can push the range.

I would definitely recommend these radios and BetterSafeRadio.
